RECENT ACTIVITIES OF ACCRA CENTRAL ZONE

INTER-ZONAL GAMES AND COOKING COMPETITION BETWEEN ACCRA CENTRAL ZONE AND KASOA ZONE

As part of efforts to foster unity and encourage members to stay fit and interact with other Zonal Lajna members, the Zone organized an inter-Zonal games and cooking competition on the 5th of June, 2022 between its members and members of Kasoa Zone. The event took place at Kasoa. 

Games such as volleyball and Ludo were organized. The presence of a heavy downpour did not discourage members at all. There were about 60 Lajna members from the Zone in an attendance. In the end, all circuits were crowned winners.

ACCRA CENTRAL ZONE DONATES TO THE SENIOR CORRECTIONAL CENTER OF THE GHANA PRISONS SERVICE

Alhamdulillah, the Accra Central Zone on the 15th May 2022 donated items to the SENIOR CORRECTIONAL CENTER OF THE GHANA PRISONS SERVICE in Accra. 30 Lajna members took part. The National Coordinator for Khidmat-e Khalq, Mrs Hajira Lartey led the team to make the presentation. She explained that the items were presented to support the inmates of the facility.  Items donated ranged from liquid soap, bathing soap, laundry soap, bags of gari, rice and sugar, detergents, toilet rills etc. Fresh fruits such as watermelons were also presented to them. The receiving officer ASP James Arthur expressed their gratitude and requested for more of such donations.

ACCRA CENTRAL ZONE ORGANIZES INTER-CIRCUIT INDOOR GAMES COMPETITION

As part of planned activities for Shoba Sihat Jismani to help members remain fit even in the Holy month of Ramadan, the Zone organized an inter-circuit games competition for members on the 17th April, 2022 at the Darkuman mosque. Games such as Oware and Ludo were organized. It was an intense competition and in the end in both events, Darkuman Lajna emerged winners, followed by Adenta Madina, Nima, Achimota and Abossey Okai circuits.  There were 30 Lajna members in an attendance.

NIMA CIRCUIT LAJNA MAKES DONATIONS

On the 14th of April, 2022, members of the Nima Circuit Lajna made a donation to the South Labone Girls Vocational Training Center, Junior Girls’ Correctional center and the Boys Remand Home of Department of Social Welfare at Labone. Items donated included food items, medicines and bundles of used clothes. 4 members represented the circuit.

The programme was very successful. Members were very excited to have taken part in this blessed activity and prayed for more of such activities to be organized.

ACCRA CENTRAL ZONE HOLDS ITS 2ND LAJNA CONFERENCE

Alhamdulillah, the Accra Central Zone has successfully organized its Zonal Ijtema on the 20th of March, 2022. The theme was “Upholding Islamic family values in modern times, the responsibilities of a Lajna”. This theme was chosen to help Lajna remain steadfast and prayerful when faced with challenges in managing the family. Mrs Katura Anderson Ibrahim, Secretary Tarbiyyat, was the guest speaker and she did justice to the theme.

The event was graced by Lajna Sadr, who was also the chairperson for the conference and by members of the Lajna Amila. A total of about 400 Lajna members attended the event, with about 150 Nasirat present to support them. The event saw the exhibition of handicrafts by both Lajna and Nasirat. Alhmadulillah, alhamdulillah. The conference was very successful.

HEALTH EDUCATION

The Accra Central Zone during its monthly meeting on 2nd January, 2022, organized a talk on ‘Cervical Cancer’ at Bustan e Ahmad. Madam Ayesha Boateng Ahmed and Madam Jemila Boateng, both Senior Health Practitioners, took turn in educating members present.

A question and answer session gave members the opportunity to ask pertinent issues bothering their minds. They also advised members to undertake constant screening and seek professional help when needed. Alhamdulillah, 62 Lajna members were present and benefitted from the talk.

NIMA CIRCUIT LAJNA EMPOWERS ITS MEMBERS WITH SKILLS

Investing in women’s economic empowerment and skills development is one of the most urgent and effective means to drive progress on gender equality, poverty eradication, and inclusive economic growth.

 

To increase access to decent employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, the Nima Circuit Lajna has provided training for its members. The training is one of the many to take place. This will enable members to be economically independent and help them fulfill their financial obligations to the Jama’at.

Members were trained in Liquid soap making. The programme was very successful and members were very satisfied and encouraged the organisers to hold more of such events.

DONATIONS TO AGONA SWEDRU AHMADIYYA HOSPITAL BY ACCRA CENTRAL ZONE

 Alhamdulillah, the Accra Central Zone on the 21st of August, 2021 donated items to the Ahmadiyya Hospital in Agona Swedru. Over 60 Lajna members took part. To do the donation was the National Coordinator for Khidmat-e Khalq, Mrs Hjira Lartey. She explained that the items were presented to support the hospital in its fight agains the Civid-19 pandemic.

Items donated ranged from hand sanitizers, liquid soap, detergents, gloves, nose masks, standing brooms and mops, waste bins etc.

Packed Food was presented to some in-patients at the hospital. The children on admission were also presented with some biscuits. All items donated were from contribution of Lajna Imalilah in the Zone, Maasha’Allah.

Lajna members also carried waqar-e amal at the hospital premise, wards, washrooms, mosque and ablution area.

The programme was very successful. Members were very excited to have taken part in this blessed activity and prayed for more of such activities to be organised.
