The Spark of Discovery (1931–1932)

Imam Alhaj Salih, a respected trader and Arabic scholar from Wa, first encountered Ahmadiyya teachings during a trade trip to Ashanti. After theological discussions with Ameer Maulvi Nazir Ahmad Ali, he officially embraced Islam Ahmadiyyat in 1932.

Convincing the First Followers

When news of his conversion reached Wa, fifteen relatives and students visited Imam Salih at Amomonsu. Guided by his Quranic and Hadith explanations, all fifteen embraced the faith alongside him.

The Journey on Foot

Demonstrating remarkable faith and resilience, Imam Salih and his dedicated companions set off on foot from Amumonso back home to Wa to spread the message of Ahmadiyyat.

Official Missionary Appointment (1933)

Recognizing his dedication, the Missionary In-Charge of Ghana appointed Imam Alhaj Salih as a formal preacher. On March 23, 1933, he received his official appointment letter to lead the mission.

Overcoming Opposition

Despite facing intense local pushback and initial expulsion of early pioneers who tried to “test the waters,” the movement stood firm in the 1930s, establishing a strong and lasting foundation in North-Western Ghana.

The Lajna community is a vibrant and growing network of Girls (below 7), Nasirat (ages 7 to 14) and Lajna (15 and above) united in their commitment to empowerment and progress. With a diverse membership that reflects strength and resilience, Lajna members come together to support each other's development and uplift one another. This collective passion fosters a strong sense of togetherness, driving initiatives that promote the advancement of women in all spheres of life. Together, they embody the spirit of collaboration and dedication to creating a brighter future for Ahmadiyya Muslim Women.
